12.1 Chassis  Type A/B//D/S
 

Front suspension
  • Lower control arms
    • OEM G Body in stock location
    • Howe and Johnson OEM permitted
  • Ball Joints
    • Approved Mono-ball is allowed.  We reserve the right to refuse Mono-balls at WTC's discretion
       
    • Spindles
      • Stock GM OEM in Stock location
      • OEM replacement spindles allowed ( Must not change geometry)
        • Capitol CMS56318 -CMS56319
        • Coleman steel spindle P/N 19975 or Coleman steel spindle P/N 19976
        • From the Coleman website:
          For ease of ordering all spindle parts are sold individually. To put together a complete spindle you will need to order each part separately. You will need: 1-spindle upright, 1-steering arm, 1-brake bracket, 2-steering arm bolts and 2-brake bracket bolts for each spindle. These spindles feature aluminum or steel steering arms, gusseted steel upright, and steel caliper brackets. The spindles are available in two heights:
          Part number 19975 is referred to as 8″ but is actually 7-3/4″ tall.
          Part number 19976 is referred to as 9” but is actually 8-1/2” tall.
          Both have 10 degree spindle inclination with 3 3/4″ spindle pin height
      • Non OEM Steel Spindles add 25 lbs
      • Steel OEM  pin adapter when converting to wide-five hubs.
        •  - 25 lbs ( 10 degree spindle inclination and 3/3/4 spindle pin height must be maintained.
      • Must be reamed to same taper as ball joint
      • Spindle savers recommended
      • Steel OEM replacement spindles using pin adapter when converting to wide-five hubs.
        •  - 25 lbs
           
    • Brake Caliper

    • Tread width
      • Supplied by team both front and rear
        • width must be recorded on decal with weight penalty if any - pre race.
          ( Decal will be supplied)
      • A/B C and D except Seekonk Metric
        • Minimum 73 inches measured from outside of rim to outside of rim
        • Max front and rear tread width 74 inches
        • Over maximum add 20 lbs per inch or 10 lbs per 1/2 inch
           
      • Seekonk Metric minimum 70 inches
        • Max front tread width 71 inches
          • Over maximum add 20 lbs per inch or 10 lbs per 1/2 inch
             
    • Bushings
      • No eccentric bushings
      • No non-factory adjustable devices allowed on the suspension
         
    • No devices are allowed that tie down, limit, or restrict front suspension travel.
       These include but are not  limited to Bump Stops, Coil Spring Binding, Chains, etc.
      • Frame rail must be able to raise 3 inches without rear wheel raising off ground.
         
  • Rear Suspension  (Does not include axle housing, gears, axles, etc.)
     
    • 4-link with all suspension points retained to manufacturer specs.
      (Must be able to pass inspection using Johnson Chassis inspection tools
       
    • 3 point Suspension
      • Add 50 lbs.
      • Lower trailing arm must connect to chassis to stock mount in stock location
        • C/D  Chassis Add 25 lbs for altered front mount
        • Max trailing arm length 28.00 inches eye to eye.
      • All links including Upper link must be tubular with spherical rod ends or stock
        • No springs, rubbers or other design allowed.
      • Upper link max 16.0 inches.  Add 10 lbs for every 1inche over.
        Examples below include allowance
        (16.251 - 17.250 add 10 lbs)
        17.251 - 18.250 add  20 lbs)
         
    • Rear tread width max 74 inches
      • May not be wider than front
      • If over add 20 lbs per inch or 5 lbs per 1/4 inch
         
    • Bushings
      • No eccentric bushings
      • No non-factory adjustable devices allowed on the suspension
      • Upper mounts of rear end housing may use only swivel bearing type
         
    • No devices are allowed that tie down, limit, or restrict the rear suspension travel.
      These include but are not  limited to Bump Stops, Coil Spring Binding, Chains, etc.
       
  • Rear Sway bar is not allowed
     
 
   
  • Springs Front & Rear
    • Steel - Magnetic
    • Jacking Bolts permitted at all four wheels
      • above spring only.
    • May not be custom wound
    • No coil over springs allowed
    • No coil over eliminators allowed
    • Must be mounted in stock location
    • Minimum 5 inches
    • Minimum front spring race 550 lbs
    • Spring must be readily available for purchase for less than  $150.00
    • S Chassis must use rear leaf springs
       
  • Shocks   Front & Rear
    • Must mount directly to lower control arm
    • 1 shock per wheel
    • Must be readily available for purchase for $205.00
    • Shock can be claimed by series or any competitor for $230.00

  • Front Suspension

      • Non OEM Steel Spindles add 25 lbs
      • Steel OEM  pin adapter when converting to wide-five hubs.
        •  - 25 lbs
    • Upper A-Arms
      • Steel
      • Any length
      • Non-adjustable
      • Aluminum cross shafts allowed 
         
    • Hubs
      • Heavy duty allowed / recommended
      • Wide Five hubs add  75 lbs. (Includes former spindle penalty)
        • Steel OEM replacement spindles using pin adapter when converting to wide-five hubs. - 25 lbs
