Some of our SRF drivers also are or have been real world competitors. Look for these guys at your local track!

00 Alce Correndo / OutLawAC

OutLaw AC is Marshall Hurley. Sim-Racing started at TNT where he won a Championship on Sundays as Alce Correndo, and, under their name, hosted what we now know as the Pro-Tour. Marshall also opened a Pro-Tour division for TNT. Original members included Bones Pertelli, Jim Cook,  Rowdy O'Neill and Garyo-Andretti.

In the real world Marshall raced on multiple divisions. He was Auto Racing of New England's Rookie of the Year in 1984. He raced everything from Super Modified to NASCAR Busch Series cars. Marshall also served as a crew chief , and occasionally built a chassis of his own. The car zipping across the top of the screen was a Super Modified raced at Star Speedway.  Here are a few of his rides.

3 X-Mod
In the real world X-Mod is Gregg Hurley. For 2011 Gregg will be competing in the SK Modifieds at Waterford Speedway. Gregg has raced a Pro-4 modified, and  is one of the few that can say he won the first race he ever entered despite starting dead last. Gregg prefers open wheels, and opted out of his Pro-Stock ride. His current modified was originally a Boehler mod.  Gregg is an 'Ol Blue fan so you'll see that familiar paint scheme when he runs online. Gregg also served as a crew chief before deciding to get behind the wheel.

X-Mod's first race car was a Pro-Stock.  He built the car a-z including the motor but never really cared for driving with fenders and opted to start racing in open wheels.

Gregg scored a 3rd place in the 2010 Gate City Classic at Hudson Speedway

X-mod spent lots of time as a crew chief . Here is talks handling with a competitor at Beech Ridge.

Gregg turned plenty of laps at Star Speedway in his Pro-4 Modified pictured to the right. . The car was loaded with chassis experiments including trailing arms that extended rearward from the rear-end.

28 Rowdy
The 28 that we all know as Rowdy is actually Jeff O'Neill Rowdy was on of the originals on the Pro-Tour. He is another guy that raced with TNT.  His original Pro-Tour truck number was 51. The truck was a Rowdy Busch design. His driving style matched the truck and the nickname just stuck.

Rowdy wanted to try the real thing. He rented X-Mod's Modified for a test day at Star Speedway. Most that were there thought Rowdy had experience in the real thing. he turned some great laps with his only practice being driving the NR2003 game at Star Speedway.   When he returned to Texas he purchased his own Late Model. that was in 2008.

Jeff finished 5th in the 2010 season Championships at Thunderhill Raceway and earned the NASCAR TSRS Sportsman of the Year ward. He is part of a reality show on racing and may just make it back to New England to race a Modified this summer.

He has victories at Beech Ridge and Star Speedway.   He also enjoys racing the Legends cars on Thursday evenings. There is a brand new one in his garage as we speak.

Tim Faro raced for us while attending college.  He would take breaks during vacations for he did not have suitable Internet where he lived.  He graduated, but still is living where the Internet service keeps him from sim-racing.

On the other hand, Tim races at his local track. In 2011 the tally is 4 wins in 8 starts. The record is  a 4th, 3rd, 3rd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 1st, and 1st.  Even more important, with not too much season left ahead, Tim enjoys a 118 points lead in the Championship.

Josh was also nice enough to turn at lap on the sim at Lime Rock and narrate the fast way around.  The NR2003 game gives a great realistic feel for the second video is Josh narrating a lap in the GTI in the real world.

Check out the  YouTube clip below of Josh in the real thing at Lime Rock.
Amazing how close the game is to the real thing!
